Zephyr is truly a luxury yarn.  Light and lustrous, it is made from 50% Merino wool and 50% Chinese Tussah silk.   The yarn takes on a beautiful sheen and is very popular with weavers and fiber artists. Hand knitters have also discovered this yarn for it's softness, sheen and drapiness.

This listing for 100-gram cones in the 2-ply lace weight (2/18) yarn.  The same yarn and colors are also available in 50-gram skeins and 1-lb cones.   

Lace Weight (5,040 yds per pound, 1120 yards in 100-gram cone) 

Weaving Setts - varies, normally plain weave 18-20; twill 22-28

Knitting gauge - varies, normally use larger needle (size 1-4) for lace.  May use sizes 000-1 for closely knit stockinette.

When knitting, 3 strands together is the equivalent of a sport weight yarn.

Washing Instructions: Dry-cleaning is recommended by Jaggerspun. Many weavers and knitters have good success with handwashing in mild soapy lukewarm water or a wool wash using minimal agitation and air drying. 

The dyed silk is not as resistant to fading as the wool; it is recommended that items made with the yarn not be exposed to strong natural or artificial light for long periods
