These 3D printed quills are an alternative to the cardboard or paper quills. Especially when using an electric double ended winder, cardboard quills can start to warp after a number of uses. These 3D printed quills are much stronger and will not easily bend.
We've designed a short section on each end that has threading, similar to a screw, that makes it much easier to start winding by reducing slippage. Flare quills are generally preferred with double ended electric winders.
The 4-1/2" Flare Quills work with the 11" Schacht and Leclerc Boat Shuttles and have a larger hole to accommodate singe-ended manual bobbin winders.
The 5.75" Flare Quills work with the full size Flying Dutchman
