For the regular interchangeable needles:

Note that the Large connectors are for needle sizes US 9-15.

The Small connectors are for needle sizes US 2-8.

TWIST Shorties use MINI connectors for up to size US 3, and Small connectors for US 4-8.

The Mini cables have connectors "M" that can only be used with the 2 or 3" tips  (shorties) or  as an extension to another MINI cable with the use of a MINI cable connector.  Mini cables are for sizes 000 (1.5mm) – 3 (3.25mm) and have a MINI [M] size join

About the cables - red and blue:  TWIST red cables are the original memory-free, multi-strand, steel cable coated with red nylon. The TWIST Blue X-Flex interchangeable cables are a newer offering and are the same type cable as the red TWIST cable, just MORE flexible! 

Note that cables can be connected to make longer cables with ChiaoGoo Connectors.
