Class taught in-store by Kiera O'Halla.
Requirements:
  1. Bring your own rigid heddle loom with a 10-dent reed and minimum 12" weaving width.
  2. Must be able to confidently direct warp your rigid heddle loom and weave plain weave.

This class is for rigid heddle weavers with some experience.   We'll be making a piece similar to the one pictured that can be used as a scarf, table runner or wall hanging.

We'll wind a striped warp chain and use the indirect warping technique. Next we'll learn to use a pick-up stick to make simple patterns in our cloth.  We'll learn to make a 4-stranded braided finish.

We'll be using a nice DK-weight Egyptian Mercerized Cotton in two colors of your choice.  Included in the course is two skeins 100-gram skeins that will be enough for a finished piece about 46" plus fringe and 10" wide.  Additional yarn can be purchased separately for a longer warp or more color options.

Choose either Wednesday June 21st or Saturday June 24th for the first session (10am to 3pm).  You'll wind the warp chain and warp your looms during this first session.  The second session is the following week and you'll start weaving and learning the pick-up techniques.  Please plan on coming the same day of the week as your first session.

As you continue to weave, additional instruction will be available on an informal basis during July as arranged with Kiera.
