Intro to Stranded Knitting Class - Sat, Nov 5, 12, 18 & 26
Taught by Judy Rising
Come and learn the technique of stranded knitting. You will learn to knit with two colors at the same time holding one color in each hand, color dominance theory, and how to trap your floats.
We will knit the Equilateral Cowl, a free pattern from Universal Yarns.
Materials: Project requires 3 skeins of Wool Pop in 3 coordinating but different value colors, and a size 4 and a size 5 circular needle in 16 inch lengths. I recommend bamboo or wooden needles for this project as this yarn is slippery and you are learning a new skill. Sample will be on display at Lofty to help you with color choices.
Class will be on Saturday, November 5, 12, 18, and 26, from 1-3pm.
Skill level: This is not a beginning knitting class. You must know how to knit and purl and and have knitted a few projects. It would be helpful if you have knitted in the round before.
Class fee is $40 and must be paid in advance to reserve your place. Yarn must be purchased from LoftyFiber. Class size is limited to 8 participants.
Homework: With the size 4 circular needle, and your darkest color, cast on 150 stitches. Place marker and join to knit in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches. Work K1, P1 twisted rib until piece measures 1 inch from cast on edge. Leave on needles and bring to class with your other supplies. Don’t forget to bring the size 5 needle.
Twisted rib: K1tbl, P1, repeat to end of round.
